menucha I have to agree and disagree. I think that complimenting a woman/girl is something we all crave and need deep down. In an ideal world yes it shouldn't be about looks. But reality is part of success is taking care of yourself physically and caring about the details. we don't need to say that we need to say "wow I love your sparkly dress" but I feel you can say " what a smart little outfit young girl" or wow "those shoes are as pretty as your eyes." Because than with these statements you have taken physical objects and given them depth. "wow that big lady thinks I look smart because I am smart." the girl is lead to understand that the way we dress tells a lot about how I portray myself." " I like my shoes she likes my shoes also, she said they are pretty like my eyes. I like my eyes." You have brought an awareness about her self that is super important. Don't underestimate the value of a child looking in the mirror and being
happy. Having children appreciate what they look like is better than those who spend their lives in and out of hospitals because they hate what they see. I think the key is to teach them to love what they look like and not worry about what others look like.
